Mural competition

Alessandra Tortone murals

Garden Organic and Food Growing Schools: London are teaming up with artist Alessandra Tortone to offer a free, bespoke, hand-painted mural to brighten up a wall or surface at your school garden or your school’s community garden growing space (value of £500).

To be awarded the mural, we're calling on competition participants to submit 1-3 drawings or artwork concepts for the mural.

One winner will be selected by the Food Growing Schools: London team and artist Alessandra Tortone who will be bringing the mural concept to life.

Runner up prizes will be provided to other participants who are not selected to receive the mural.

How to participate

In order to participate, you must:

1.    Complete the FGSL survey on behalf of a participating school or school group
2.    Submit your entry to

You competition entry must include:

  • The fully completed application form (click or download below)
  • 1-3 drawing(s)/artwork concept for the mural done by pupil(s) or garden group leader/staff. Suggested theme: organic food growing, children/youth, learning outdoors, the environment. Example concept idea: use of vertical growing space that interacts with the mural.
  • Photo(s) of the proposed location for the mural.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 1 December* but please send in your submission as soon as possible.
